3. You meet the AGE guidelines
listed below:
Women Age 50 and Older**:
- Are eligible for a clinical breast
examination (CBE), breast self-examination (BSE) instruction, and
mammogram, plus a pelvic exam and Pap smear*
Women Age 18 - 49:
- Are eligible for
a biennial mammogram if client was 40 - 45 years of age and received
a complete Show Me Healthy Women breast cancer screening prior to
August 15, 1997.
- Are eligible for
a pelvic examination and Pap smear*, CBE, and BSE instruction if
they are not eligible for Family Planning or if a Family Planning
facility is not available within a fifty (50) mile radius.
- Are
eligible for diagnostic cervical services2
if their Pap smear was abnormal and through a participating Show Me
Healthy Women provider or through Title V and Title X (Family
Planning) funds.
- Are
eligible for diagnostic breast services1
if the CBE results are suspicious for cancer. Show Me Healthy Women
does not pay for this abnormal CBE.
Women who have had a Hysterectomy:
- Due to cervical
cancer or dysplasia, continue to be eligible for regular Show Me
Healthy Women cervical cancer screenings.
- Due to any other
reason then mentioned above, are eligible for one (1) pelvic exam to
confirm the presence or absence of the cervix.
- Are eligible for
only a CBE and BSE instruction with the absence of a cervix
confirmed (due to another reason then cervical cancer or dysplasia).

Women with Medicaid, Medicare part B or HMO health coverage are not
eligible for Show Me Healthy Women.
*After the third
consecutive negative (normal) annual Pap smear within a 5-year period
(60 months), Show Me Healthy Women will reimburse for a regular Pap
test in 3 years. Clinician's discretion may override this guideline.
If a fourth Pap smear is recommended, the reason must be recorded in
the 'Comment' section on the Activity Reporting Form.
